Comrade Conrade – Demokratie und Frieden auf der Straße
About Comrade Conrade:
The Comrade Conrade democracy walks are part of the interdisciplinary art-, science- and peaceproject Comrade Conrade – Demokratie und Frieden auf der Straße (democracy and peace on the street). 2018 is a year of commemorating in many perspectives: The centenary of the end of World War I and the beginning of the First Republic, the centenary of the right to vote for men and women, 80 years since the annexation of Austria into Nazi germany and 70 years since the declaration of human rights. Comrade Conrade deals with the current and the future situation of democracy and peace in everyday life on the street. Therefore the walks will be in and around "Conrad von Hötzendorf Straße" in Graz, Austria.
The poster series visualizes democracy in an abstract way. Various individuals participate in a larger idea and find themselves in all kinds of situations interacting with each other in many different ways. As interaction begins with movement, the main form of the artworks is a point that moves from A to B and leaves behind the trace of its movement. With this form as initial point, the development of a wide range of patterns begins. 2017, in collaboration with Isabella Schlagintweit
